"Bula" might be the first word to hearing when arriving to Fiji. Bula is a combination of "Hearty Welcome", "Bless you" or just "Relax".
Fiji is made up of over 300 islands set in the clear water of the South Pacific. A vacation on these islands with their white sand beaches, their turquoise lagoons and coral reefs vibrant with life is perfect for relaxation and sightseeing. Not to forget the extraordinary dive sites who belong to the worlds best.
One of the best ways to see a lot of this former British colony is to combine some time on Vitu Levi, the 146 km long mainland, with an island hopping or a cruise.
Nadi and Denarau Island: Located on Vitu Levu, Nadi is the main arrival point into Fiji and there are a lot of resorts in the closer surrounding. Denarau Island is not far away from the airport and offers luxury resorts, a golf course and marina.
If you prefer areas less often visited by tourists, the northerly coast might be the right place. The main settlements like Rakiraki and Ba are more agricultural communities in splendid scenery. The first attraction might be Nananu-i-ra, an island off of Rakiki - simply fantastic.
More in the south- west of Vitu Levi the Coral Coast is stretching along and mirrors the vast offshore coral reef. Comfortable offshore resorts are placed between rain forest bays and mangroves, sugar cane plantations and Fijian settlements.
Mamanuca Islands: Located westwards of the mainland, the Mamanuca islands offer some of the best places to stay in Fiji. Edged with fringing reef, set in deep blue waters the islands can get reached by seaplane, helicopter, launch or the Blue Lagoon Vessel.
Yasawa Islands: Situated at the north west of Viti Levu, the Yasawa Islands are perhaps the most origin of the ‘South Pacific’. The islands offer beautiful beaches, bays and reefs.
Northern Islands: Less often visited than Viti Levu, the northern islands give a feeling of the Fiji in former days. The diving is some of the best in the world. That’s why the Jean Michel Cousteau Resort is located here as well.
